I am sending this out to each of my five blogs:
This post is a challenge not only to you, the blog readers, but to other blog publishers. I know many other Kindle blog publishers are reading this blog – and I’m asking you to consider running a similar promotion on your blog during Thanksgiving and give back. Readers, if you are so inclined please pass the message along!
In late August / early September, I ran a promotion on all five of my blogs that was two-fold: one, (and admittedly self-serving) was to have sales of my new book Kindle Tips, Tricks, and Shortcuts and two, to raise money for the East Texas Foodbank (you can learn more about them if you click here). With that promotion, I pledged to contribute 100% of the profits in a week period to the East Texas Foodbank. My cousin joined in with his Kindle version Joke of the Day blog for greater participation.
Thanks to your generosity, we collectively raised a little over $100 for that fine organization, which has allowed them to feed over 800 people – that’s 800 children and adults who are down on their luck during this recession who would have otherwise missed a meal.
Selfishly, the rankings of the book went up, too, during this promotion for which I am very appreciative. I certainly can’t quit my job from the eBook sales, but it does help in this terrible economy.
It is Thanksgiving week here in the USA, and one of the big focal points is counting your blessings and being thankful, combined with a huge meal with family and friends on Thursday. As there are a lot of people who are hurting out there, I am going to run this promotion again – from 9:00 a.m. Central time today through 9:00 a.m. Central time Friday – for every purchase of my revised guide of Kindle Tips, Tricks, and Shortcuts I will donate 100% of the profits again to the East Texas Foodbank. These people can stretch a dollar – they can make just $1 feed 8 people.
Kindle Tips, Tricks, and Shortcuts costs just 99 cents in the USA and, depending upon the exchange rate less than a pound in the UK (although the fine folks in the UK haven’t set the world on fire purchasing it); after Amazon’s cut (65%), that leaves about 35 cents for each book sold – I told you I couldn’t quit my job from this – but there are a lot more folks out there who need help vs. my needs. To make the math simple – if you buy the eBook, your portion will feed about three people. I hope I am writing a large check to them reflecting your contributions!
You can pick up the US version if you click here or type in http://tinyurl.com/ktipsusa into your web browser; the UK version can be found if you click here or type in http://tinyurl.com/ktipsuk into your web browser.
While the folks over at the East Texas Foodbank will receive a monetary benefit from this promotion, you will get a benefit, too. I’ve assembled the majority of the tips I’ve sent out in the Free Kindle Books Plus a Few Other Tips blog into one eBook – all for just 99 cents. Topics include:
